Student tutoring system

Tutoring at AREMA is a structured form of academic and personal support designed to help students successfully navigate their studies. The tutoring process accompanies students from their initial enrolment through to the completion of their studies, providing guidance and assistance at different stages of their academic journey.

The tutoring system helps students become familiar with the academic environment, connect with fellow students and develop stronger relationships with academic staff and other members of the AREMA community. By providing accessible and individualised support, tutoring contributes to a positive study experience, successful academic progression and the overall quality of student life.

At AREMA, the tutoring system is organised within the Centre for Career Development and International Cooperation. Students are systematically supported throughout their studies in their academic and research development, as well as in their personal and professional development.

AREMA provides two main forms of tutoring:
  • Peer Tutoring
  • Academic Staff Tutoring

Peer Tutoring

Peer tutoring is a form of support in which students from higher years of study provide guidance and assistance to students in lower years.

Its primary purpose is to help students adjust to the study environment and successfully meet their academic obligations. Peer tutors can assist students in understanding course content and dealing with various academic, administrative or practical issues that may arise during their studies and potentially affect their academic progress.

Peer tutoring benefits both the students receiving support and the students acting as tutors. Tutors gain valuable experience, communication skills and a greater sense of responsibility, while relationships based on trust and cooperation can develop among students. This contributes to a more positive attitude towards studying, stronger connections within the student community and improved academic outcomes.

Peer tutoring is not limited to assistance with studying and course content. It also includes support with enrolment procedures, administrative matters and other practical or organisational issues related to studying at AREMA.

The most common forms of peer tutoring support include:
  • introducing students to the available sources of information and encouraging them to use these resources independently;
  • providing individual guidance and support in accordance with the tutoring programme;
  • advising students on effective study methods, identifying key course requirements and recommending appropriate learning resources;
  • providing assistance with more demanding course content;
  • advising and supporting students in resolving difficulties that may arise in communication or cooperation with academic staff;
  • helping students navigate enrolment, administrative and organisational procedures;
  • encouraging students to participate in additional academic, professional and extracurricular activities at AREMA, thereby supporting the development of their individual interests and talents.

Academic Staff Tutoring

Academic Staff Tutoring provides students with individual guidance and support from members of AREMA's academic staff.

Academic staff tutors assist students with questions and decisions concerning their studies and future academic or professional development. Support may include:
  • selecting elective courses;
  • planning and successfully progressing through the study programme;
  • considering further study opportunities;
  • discussing career options and professional development;
  • addressing academic challenges or difficulties encountered during the study process;
  • and providing guidance on other study-related matters that may arise during the student's academic journey.

Through its tutoring system, AREMA aims to ensure that students have access to appropriate support throughout their studies and that they know where and whom to turn to when they need academic, administrative or personal guidance.
